The technical term “galvanized” means that metal has been specially treated with zinc. Essentially, the wire is covered with a very thin layer of zinc. It is this thin layer of zinc that gives galvanized wire its many properties. Galvanizing can be done by dipping wire into a pool of zinc or by electroplating. Raw material of wire mesh sheet cold drawn low carbon steel wire base material can choose low carbon steel hot rolled disk bar or hot rolled smooth steel bar. The base material number and diameter of cold-drawn low carbon steel wire can be confirmed according to the rules in the table below. During the cold drawing process, the surface shrinkage rate of each drawing should not be greater than the wire mesh before cold drawing. Annealing shall not be carried out during wire drawing. If butt welding is required, the same production unit and base material of the same number should be selected. The appearance quality of wire mesh should not affect wire drawing. When the welding function is poor or brittle fracture occurs, special inspection should be carried out according to relevant standards.

Each coil of steel wire shall consist of one wire. The surface of the rod shall not have cracks, folds, scars, ears, layers or inclusions. However, indentation, pits, bumps, scratches and pockmarks are allowed, and the depth or height shall not be 0.2mm. There should be no corrosion and oxidation skin on the surface of the steel wire, and oxidation color is allowed by heat treatment. The surface of the wire is allowed to have scratches not exceeding half of the allowable deviation range of the diameter, and local defects not exceeding the allowable deviation of the appropriate diameter.

Compared with other galvanizing processes, galvanized steel wire has low cleaning requirements before plating. However, under the current trend of increasing the quality level of galvanized layer, some pollutants brought into the plating tank are obviously harmful. Because cleaning galvanized coating wastes a lot of time and reduces production, it is very important to properly clean and effectively rinse the substrate before electroplating.
