Solvent rubber
1. Material
Vinyl tape forms the final outer layer and serves several important functions in addition to electrical insulation, including abrasion protection, corrosion resistance, UV resistance, and protection from chemicals including alkalis and acids. Conformable vinyl tape is tougher than the softer, stickier surfaces of rubber, mastic, and putty tapes it protects.

Rubber tape usually does not have an adhesive side but sticks to itself. This means it has to be stretched entirely around a cable to effectively adhere to itself using elastic tension against the backing.
Fire-resistant electrical tape is typically made from durable materials such as PVC (polyvinyl chloride), which can endure higher temperatures than standard tapes. These tapes are coated with flame-retardant compounds that significantly reduce the risk of ignition when exposed to heat or flames. Some products may also have a backing made of fiberglass or other inherently flame-resistant materials, adding an extra layer of protection.
